We were thrilled to host such a big group of children from the Ishpeming Christ the King Preschool during their field trip. Twenty three children in all! This made for a very exciting day for both the children and our staff! Dr. Jandron brought them through a “day in a life” of a veterinarian. They discussed what we do during a wellness exam of a pet, which includes listening to their heart and looking into their eyes and ears, among many other things. We gave them a tour of our facility, and answered a wide variety of questions. When given the opportunity to look at radiographs with Dr. Jandron, we were impressed as to how much they all knew at such young ages. We then gave everyone a chance to listen to the heart of some of our dogs with the stethoscope. Watching the bright eyes of an excited child, as they listen to a beating heart for the first time, is priceless. Debra, our dog trainer, discussed ways that you can help make your pet dog a good citizen. She also went over many different ways that to be safe around their pets and pets owned by others. We can’t forget Hudson, Dublin, and Ethel. The three dogs owned by two of our staff members were the biggest hit, as the children were able to meet them and pet them!
