HAPPY HOWL-O-WEEN!

Halloween is a fun time of year but it can also be spooky, especially for pets.

Here are some ways to protect your pet by keeping them safe and comfortable.

  • Walk your dog before trick-or-treating starts.
  • Keep your pets in a secure place in your home. You don’t want your cat or dog slipping out your front door when the trick-or-treaters start coming.
  • Keep dogs indoors. It’s a bad idea to leave them in a yard even if they are securely fenced in. There have been reports of taunting, poisoning and pet thefts every year around the country.
  • Keep your cats indoors. Black cats are especially at risk from pranks and other cruelty-related incidents.
  • Make sure your pets ID’s are on and have the correct contact information on them.
  • Chocolate and other candies are dangerous for pets. Make sure the wrappers are disposed of properly. Chocolate can be deadly to pets but even other candies and treats can cause stomach upset and intestinal obstruction.
