Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, it has been a slow progression to smaller cities and more rural communities. She finally found her niche here in the Upper Peninsula. She has been a veterinarian for more than 20 years, with more than ten years at Northern Veterinary Associates.
Dr. Sheffield attended The Ohio State University where she received both a BA in Biology and a DVM in the College of Veterinary Medicine. From the very start of her career, she has had a special interest in birds, pocket pets, rabbits and reptiles. These special pets have comprised 20% of her case load in the past few years.
As a young professional, Dr. Sheffield was very active in Rotary International in several cities. She was very involved in exchange programs in Jackson, MI. Currently; she continues to mentor students in veterinary medicine, some of these students have continued to excel as veterinarians, which is very rewarding.
Reading, photography and travel have always held a strong interest for Dr. Sheffield. She enjoys the outdoors, activities such as a kayaking and tent camping with her daughter. She can frequently be found planting trees around her property in Negaunee.
