Meet Dr. Dawn Sheffield

Dr. Dawn Sheffield has been a valuable part of our team at NVA as an Associate Veterinarian since 2006. She had already practiced at previous veterinary clinics, having graduated from The Ohio State University in 1995. She has always had an eclectic interest in many areas of companion animal medicine, having expanded her knowledge into exotic animal medicine, including reptiles, birds, and pocket pets. 

She has taken on a new interest as the Attending Veterinarian for the IACUC Committee at Northern Michigan University. This has exposed her to new friends and colleagues, and has expanded her professional viewpoint. In the past she has also given back to our community with involvement in Rotary, having attained the distinction of Paul Harris Fellow, and has mentored many young people in our veterinary profession.

Dr. Sheffield spends most of her free time with her family, which includes her husband, daughter, extended family, their Standard Poodle, and their three cats. They all enjoy working at community events, such as an annual Thanksgiving Dinner for our local residents, snowshoeing, kayaking, and working on improvements on their property.
